About Tracy

Hello, I’m Tracy. And I love craft beer!

I am a native Wisconsinite who came-to-age in the era of craft beer. Since my first sip of New Glarus’s “Spotted Cow” at age 21, I was fascinated by the wide-variety of tastes and aromas available to proud Cheeseheads in my state.

After moving to Toronto in 2008 and finishing my Masters of Environmental Studies in Sustainable Food and Agricultural Policy at York University, I completed Beer Judging Certification Program (which is a fancy way of saying I’m one of the world’s 3,611 lucky beer lovers who gets to judge beer competitions). I write a quarterly column for TAPS Magazine, where I combine my two interests by exploring the synergy between the local food AND craft beer movements. I am also a member of Barley’s Angels, a international network of women’s consumer beer education clubs organized by fellow beer enthusiast Mirella Amato of Beerology. And finally, this summer I’m launching my career as a homebrewer – starting with a simply yet sultry brown ale.

During the day, I work in outreach and education for Local Food Plus, a charity that certifies Local Sustainable farmers in Ontario and connects them with commercial buyers. I also founded and currently am chair of the Toronto Youth Food Policy Council, North America’s first youth food policy council.

Down the road I hope to become a brewmaster, but in-the-meantime I’m quite excited to help you explore the world of craft beer!
